We use high-quality materials for all of our framing projects, including acid-free matting, UV-protective glass, and durable frames in a variety of styles and colors.
Archival materials are acid-free and designed to preserve artwork long-term without causing discoloration or deterioration. For the highest level of protection, we also offer lignin-free matting options.
Lignin-free materials have had natural wood acids removed, preventing yellowing and deterioration over time.
Why is it important?
It helps protect artwork from discoloration and long-term damage.
Is it the same as acid-free?
Not exactly, but they’re closely related:
Acid-free means the material has a neutral pH at the time of manufacture
Lignin-free means it won’t become acidic later as it ages
Best practice is to use both acid-free and lignin-free materials for proper conservation framing.
Yes. Proper framing protects against UV light, dust, moisture, and physical damage while preserving the condition of your piece.
Cotton rag matting is made from 100% cotton fibers instead of wood pulp, making it naturally acid-free and highly stable.
Cotton rag matting is naturally lignin-free because it’s made from 100% cotton fibers, not wood pulp, so there’s no lignin to begin with.
Why is it used in framing?
It provides the highest level of protection, preventing discoloration and deterioration over time.
When should you use it?
For valuable artwork, photographs, and pieces you want to preserve long-term.

Think of a ready-made frame as a "one-size-fits-all" jacket. It does the job, but it’s mass-produced in standard sizes with basic materials. A custom frame is more like a tailored suit. It’s a bespoke piece, handcrafted specifically for your art, and the price reflects that elevated level of design, care and quality.
Artisanal Craftsmanship: Your frame isn't coming off an assembly line. It is hand cut, joined, and finished by skilled framers who treat every project as a unique work of art. You’re invested in the expertise and time it takes to get every corner and measurement perfect.
Museum-Quality Protection: We use premium, archival materials that off-the-shelf frames simply don’t offer. From acid-free matting that prevents yellowing to UV-protective glass that keeps your art from fading, we ensure your memories stay vibrant for a lifetime.
A Perfect Fit, Every Time: You aren't limited to a few "standard" sizes. Whether you have a tiny heirloom or a massive textile, we build the frame to fit your art, not the other way around. No awkward cropping or "making it work" using uneven and unbalanced borders.
Designer Finishes: You gain access to a curated library of high end wood and metal mouldings that offer a level of sophistication and durability you won't find in a big-box store. The options and design choices are tailored to give you the most outstanding results.
